Chic Same-Sex Elopement at Toronto City Hall
Two brides. Toronto City Hall. An energy so infectious we were smiling from the moment we arrived.
Róisín and Suhki's elopement was one of those days that reminds you exactly why this work is so special. Their story started the way the best ones often do: quietly and unexpectedly. Both of them had recently moved to Canada when they found themselves working together. Having come from places over 7,000 kilometres apart, their friendship formed quickly, feelings followed, and after moving in together they've been inseparable ever since.
On the morning of their elopement they got ready at 1 Hotel Toronto before we all made our way to City Hall for the ceremony. The chambers at Toronto City Hall aren't the most glamorous setting in the world— we'll always be honest about that— but something happens in that room every single time we photograph there. Every couple we've ever witnessed get married in those chambers has brought such genuine, palpable excitement that the backdrop becomes irrelevant. Róisín and Suhki were no exception to this; their laughter, their nerves, their clear and unrestrained love for each other completely filled the room and even made us feel emotional.
To say they also showed up looking phenomenal is an understatement. Rather than matching, they went complementary with two distinct looks that still felt very cohesive together. It's something we always suggest to couples and it's a small thing that makes a big difference in photos.
