A Stylish Destination Wedding in Corner Brook, Newfoundland
Some weddings are beautiful. Some weddings are in Newfoundland. And then there are weddings like this one…
Where the landscape is so breathtaking and the couple so completely themselves that the whole day feels like it was made to be photographed.
Kristen is Corner Brook born and raised, so when she and Vince started planning their wedding back home, word travelled fast. A destination wedding in a small town has a particular energy to it; everyone knows, everyone's excited, and the whole day carries this lovely sense of homecoming. As soon as we arrived, we understood the fuss.
Kristen got ready at the Hew & Draw Hotel with her bridesmaids, flat lay items already perfectly put together— an invitation suite she designed herself, Bluboho rings and jewellery placed just so, and a single sea shell tucked in as a quiet east coast nod. That thoughtfulness set the tone for everything that followed.
The ceremony was at Bottle Cove, cliffside and overlooking the ocean. It was extraordinarily windy, as Newfoundland tends to be, but nobody was thinking about that. Guests gathered loosely around Kristen and Vince as they shared their vows— no formal seating, no fuss, just people standing together on a cliff above the water. Both casual and perfect.
Kristen's fashion-forward instincts meant that while our default is always documentary wedding photography, a lot of this day genuinely called for something more editorial inspired, and we were beyond thrilled to lean into both styles. We took our time after the ceremony winding through the landscape for portraits, stopping at a local corner store, and a dock lined with ships where we popped champagne with the bridal party before heading to the reception.
The reception venue, Blow Me Down XC Ski Lodge, barely needed decorating: exposed wooden beams, a mounted deer head outfitted with a floral crown, single stemmed flowers, handmade touches, and a wedding cake made by Kristen's cousin, was a perfect representation of who Kristen and Vince are. The evening followed with heartfelt speeches, then dancing until last call. It was one of those receptions where you look around mid-evening and think, “yes, this is exactly what it's supposed to feel like.”
If you're dreaming of a destination wedding somewhere unexpected and beautiful, we'd love to be part of it!
