Wedding Attire, Toronto Islands, and the Best Sunset of the Summer

Here’s an idea we love and don’t talk about enough: wedding portraits can absolutely happen *after* your wedding!

Aysan and Jake had a destination wedding in Mexico with immediate family, they had the ceremony, the photos, the whole thing, and it was so beautiful. But they're Toronto people, and they wanted portraits here too. So they put the wedding attire back on, hopped on the ferry, and met us at Centre Island for a sunset session with the skyline behind them, and Lake Ontario stretching out in every direction. We are fully on board with this becoming a tradition— putting on your formal wear every year on your anniversary, finding a beautiful spot, and just taking photos together. It's such a fun idea, and a lovely way to relive one of the most exciting days of your life, all while starting a new tradition .

We'd actually rescheduled this session a couple of times— once for poor air quality from forest fires (yes, we will absolutely keep your and our health and safety top of mind when we shoot outdoors), and once for overly overcast skies. We like to take advantage of that flexibility when we have it, and in this case the patience paid off tenfold. The evening we finally shot was one of those perfect summer nights where it feels like all of the stars align: warm air, clear sky, and the kind of golden light that makes every frame feel effortless.

Btw Aysan's dress is from Reformation, isn’t it so stunning? Relaxed, elegant, and absolutely right for the setting.

Whether you're thinking about post-wedding portraits, anniversary photos, or just an excuse to get dressed up to take photos somewhere beautiful in Toronto, consider this your sign! Get in touch here and let’s make it happen.
