Romantic Editorial Inspired Wedding Portraits at Langdon Hall
Langdon Hall has been on our radar for a long time, so when Diana & Mat reached out about their reception there, we were immediately all in.
The property is genuinely stunning; grand without being stiff, beautifully landscaped, and full of interesting light at every turn. It's the kind of venue that does a lot of the work for you, and we were more than happy to let it.
Diana and Mat had eloped earlier that week in a small, intimate ceremony in Toronto, and the Langdon Hall reception was their way of celebrating with the people they love most. Their plans were refreshingly simple: portraits around the grounds for themselves, and if time allowed, a few photos with family and friends before dinner. No long shot list, no rushed timeline, just a relaxed evening at a beautiful property. Honestly, our favourite kind of day.
The two of them are effortlessly chic and completely at ease in front of the camera, which made leaning into a more editorial approach feel totally natural. We had a lot of fun with it; more intentional framing, some direction with a little play. It's not an approach that works for everyone, but when a couple is as open and receptive as Diana and Mat, it's genuinely one of our favourite ways to shoot.
We should also mention: this was the first session where we brought along a roll of film to shoot alongside our digital work! We've been slowly reintroducing film photography into select sessions this year, and Langdon Hall felt like the right place to try it. The film frames from this day are at the end of the gallery, shot on medium format with all the warmth and depth that comes with it. There's something about the slower, more intentional process of film that pairs really well with the quietness of an evening like this one.
If Langdon Hall is on your list for your wedding or elopement reception, it absolutely lives up to the hype, and we'd love to be there to document it with you! Get in touch here.
