A Sunset Engagement Session at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, Toronto
If there’s one thing we’ll always advocate for, it’s exercising patience, and waiting for the right evening to shoot
Rescheduling isn't our favourite conversation to have, but it's one we'll always one we’ll bring up because the difference between a flat, overcast session and one bathed in golden hour light is impossible to overstate. Trista & Dan's session at Colonel Samuel Smith Park is exactly the kind of proof we love to point to.
Col. Sam Smith Park in Etobicoke is one of our favourite spots for waterfront engagement sessions in Toronto. The combination of open lake views, quiet walking paths, and the way the light hits the water in the evening makes it a genuinely special location. And on a clear summer night, it's hard to beat.
We'd been watching the weather all week, nudging the date each time the forecast looked uninspiring. Finally, after a full day of rain, the sky cleared just in time so we went for it. That particular kind of evening— washed clean by rain, still warm, the light changing into a picture perfect hue of gold— is one we chase all season long, and this one delivered completely, and some.
Trista and Dan were completely at ease from the moment we started walking. There's a talent some couples have where the camera just disappears, and their connection— in person, and on camera— is relaxed and genuine. When we asked them to describe how they knew they'd found the one, their answer was simple and completely them: they're each other's best friends, and that's really all it comes down to.
If you're in the early stages of planning your engagement session and wondering whether location and timing actually matter, they do, and we're always happy to help you think through both. Get in touch here.
