A Styled Engagement Session with a Vintage Mustang
Every once in a while a couple comes in with a vision so specific and so well thought out that our job is basically just to show up.
It started with a photo Alicia found and fell in love with: a couple, a vintage car, a picnic basket, chic complementary outfits. Austin had been working on restoring his own a vintage Mustang. They sourced the basket. They nailed the outfits. All that was left was the right evening and the right location, which turned out to be a private property in Pontypool (near Peterborough / the Kawarthas) that Austin's family had just— as in, the week before— acquired. Wide open land, a small pond out back, warm fall light still holding before the leaves turned. It could not have lined up more perfectly if we'd tried.
Our approach to engagement sessions usually leans more natural and relaxed, so exploring something more editorial, intentional and fashion-forward was such a fun change of pace. There's a different kind of energy to a session like this— more directed, more composed— and when a couple is as comfortable and game as Alicia and Austin were, it brought out something really special in the photos. We had an absolute blast leaning into the having the car as a prop, the light, and the overall vibe of the evening.
The pond out back was an unexpected bonus, especially when they hopped in the canoe for a few minutes; it added this lovely, unhurried quality to the end of the session which was a nice contrast to the more polished look of the earlier photos.
If you've been dreaming up a session concept that's more stylish and tailored, we're very much here for it! Tell us about it here.
