A Sunrise Engagement Session at Woodbine Beach

I know a sunrise photo session sounds insane (read: exhausting, impossible), but hear us out… it is actually so worth it!

Sunrise engagement sessions are perfect for a few different reasons: If you want to shoot at a busy location and don’t want lots of people in the background, if you feel self-conscious or shy having a photoshoot or expressing some PDA in public (we feel you on that one), or even sometimes a morning photo session is better than shooting in the evening scheduling wise. We always recommend it when we begin planning your session and the funny thing is, is that no one has actually taken us up on it… until now!

While waking up at 4:45 in the morning was not the most glamorous thing to do (I literally set my alarm a little earlier every day to prepare haha) but it was completely worth catching the sunrise over the water and then having perfectly soft light through the stunning and colourful Kew Gardens. And an added bonus to everything: not having many distractions around us; we had the beach and the park (pretty much) all to ourselves! By the time we started walking back to the parking lot we started at there was a significant increase in the number of people that were out setting up for their own beach day.

We love love love engagement sessions because it gives us an opportunity to learn more about a couple, to see how their chemistry translates on camera, and even for you (as the subjects) to see yourself afterwards and self-asses / better prepare for photos on your wedding day, and this session was no exception. Doing so many virtual things these last couple of years it is such a joy to finally be spending time with everyone in person again and really connecting in ways that we can’t over the computer or phone.
