Small Guest List & Big Flowers For A Backyard Wedding in Mississauga
These two were always going to do things their own way.
When the time came to get married, they chose something small, intentional, and completely theirs; a backyard celebration with immediate family and close friends, and not a single thing they didn't actually want there. That spirit set the tone for everything about the day.
Their story is a good one: they met in university, Lauren moved into Chris' student rental, and it was only after she moved out that things clicked because, as they put it, “we realized we missed each other too much.” Lauren's favourite detail from their wedding questionnaire: when she moved in, her mom took one look at Chris and told her she was going to marry him. Lauren's response at the time was "definitely not, mom." And yet… here we are :’)
The day started at Lauren's parents' house, where Chris helped set up outside while Lauren hid upstairs, which meant the first time she saw the backyard fully decorated was when she walked into it. The florals from The Paisley Rose were extraordinary, to say the least! Lauren had put a significant portion of her wedding budget into flowers, and it showed — the floral arch alone was more magical in person than any photo can capture! When we mentioned how beautiful it all looked, she just smiled and said she didn't regret a single stem.
The ceremony was short and sweet and just as emotional as any wedding we've photographed with a guest list ten times the size. They drank, they ate, they danced, and then surprised everyone with an ice cream truck before finishing the evening with Lauren's own homemade desserts and wedding cake. Because when you’re a baker, of course you make your own wedding sweets!
If you're planning something intimate — backyard, micro-wedding, or anything in between — we'd love to be there.
