High School Sweethearts Finally Married at the Royal Ambassador
Some couples you meet and immediately understand why it works. Jessica and Mike are very much that— easy with each other, genuinely funny, and the kind of people who make everyone around them feel at ease.
They met the way a lot of high school relationships begin— through a mutual connection, at the mall across from school, both definitely trying to seem cooler than they were. Mike had a faux-hawk. Jessica had bracelets up her arm. By their first real date— sushi, obviously— they were already figuring out how much they had in common. The promposal happened at a wing place, which is notable because Jessica was a vegetarian at the time. She took a bite of the dried-out veggie burger and tried her best to seem enthusiastic about it. Mike says that's when he knew.
Both of them got ready at their family homes; two separate houses, two equally emotional mornings. The particular energy of a wedding morning is hard to describe: the joy of it finally happening, the nervous anticipation of seeing each other, the awareness that everything is about to change in the best possible way. Both households had it in full.
The ceremony took place at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Church in Mississauga before the wedding party made their way out to the Royal Ambassador in Caledon for portraits and the reception. The Royal Ambassador is a beautiful property with expansive grounds, lush greenery, and exactly the kind of backdrop that makes golden hour portraits feel almost effortless! With the sun setting around 5pm we moved through the bridal party and family formals efficiently so we could get Jessica and Mike out into the light for their couples portraits, which were everything we'd hoped for!
We'd shot their engagement session together earlier in the year and that comfort and ease carried right over to their wedding day. These two are genuinely natural in front of the camera, charismatic and warm, and completely at home with us. They’re one of those couples where every frame just works.
The reception was everything you'd want from a big, celebratory wedding with a full dance floor, a stunning cake from one of previous brides, Happiness is Sweet, and the kind of energy that only comes with a room full of people who are wholeheartedly happy to be there.
Get in touch here if you're planning your own wedding in the GTA or beyond, we’d love to celebrate with you!
