Sunrise Engagement Photos at Woodbine Beach
We know what you’re thinking. Sunrise session? That sounds way too early…
But before you write it off, let us make our case!
Shooting at sunrise is something we suggest fairly often, and for good reason, especially in a busy city like Toronto where popular locations fill up fast. An empty beach, soft diffused light, nobody in the background, and two people who have the whole place to themselves… it's genuinely hard to beat! There are also couples who feel more comfortable without an audience, and a beach at 6am tends to take care of that problem entirely.
Adriana and Cicero were one of the first couples to actually take us up on it, and we are so glad they did. We met at Woodbine Beach just before sunrise— yes, the alarm was set for 4:45am, and yes, we'd been gradually adjusting our sleep schedule in the days leading up to it— and the light that greeted us over the water made every bit of it worth it. We then wandered into Kew Gardens as the sun came fully up, and the morning light filtering through the trees was exactly the kind of soft, warm, and colourful thing we dream about when planning a session.
By the time we were wrapping up and walking back to the parking lot, the beach had already started filling in behind us. Safe to say we had caught it at the right time of morning!
Beyond the logistics and the light, this engagement session was simply a joy to shoot! Getting to spend unhurried time with a couple before their wedding, seeing how they are together, what makes them laugh, how they interact together in front of the camera, it's one of our favourite parts of what we do. Adriana and Cicero were warm, relaxed, and wholly themselves from start to finish.
