Timeless Wedding Photography at The Old Mill, Toronto

There are couples who put you at ease the moment you meet them, and then there are Kate and Kevin who somehow manage to make you feel like you’ve known them for years by the end of your first conversation.

We'd photographed their engagement session months before the wedding and genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. Their wedding day felt like a continuation of that.

The Old Mill is one of our favourite venues in Toronto; it’s timeless, beautifully maintained, and full of interesting corners. Both Kate and Kevin got ready on site in their own rooms, which meant the morning unfolded with a calm, unhurried quality that really set the tone for the whole day. It also meant both of them had the space to pull off their surprises. Kate's arrived early in the day— a sentimental piece of sheet music— and Kevin's arrived later in the evening in the form of a live painting by Painted by Dianna. Both were unique and special, and were received so emotionally.

The ceremony took place in the Old Mill chapel, and the feeling in that room were happy tears from every direction and an overwhelming sense of love for the bride and groom. One of our favourite captures from the day was Hannah's first kiss shot, taken from behind the couple facing out toward the crowd. It's a position that isn't always accessible depending on the layout and flow of a ceremony, but when it works it produces something really special, and this one absolutely nailed it.

Speeches are one of our favourite parts of any wedding day as they're a window into a couple's world that we don't otherwise get. Kate and Kevin's were full of warmth, intimate stories, and real love; the kinds of speeches that make a room go quiet, and where there are always a few people wiping away quiet tears. Dancing followed, as it should, and the night ended with exactly the kind of high energy that makes us wish we could stay until the very end.

If you're planning a wedding at The Old Mill or anywhere in Toronto, we'd love to connect!

Kate shared the most generous, heartfelt words about working with Hannah, which we've included below. It means more than we can say.

"You have made this entire journey so much fun and have brought such a calming, happy aura to every experience — in person, through email, over the phone and through text. After our first email I remember yelling downstairs to Kevin, “I found our wedding photographer! Her name is Hannah and I feel like I already know her! Call off the search!” Just like I knew you would back in February when we first chatted, you have captured the feeling of love and joy in every photograph. You are so incredibly gifted and we couldn't be more thrilled you were by our side capturing these special moments."
