Madison & Cole’s Sunset Engagement in Downtown Guelph

Guelph feels like one of those places we hear / see everyone shooting in but we have yet to find ourselves there… until now!

And what a cute little city it is! Having only casually passed through a couple of times (dog training anyone lol) we haven’t actually had a chance to take the city in so when Madison & Cole said that they had recently moved to Guelph and wanted to shoot their session here as a little way of celebrating their new neighbourhood, we were so excited!

Summer in the GTA feels like it can start a little slow with a few warm days here and there, some rainy days and cooler evenings, but when it’s here it is clearly here, and shooting their session felt like a very quintessential summer evening; warm with beautiful golden light, casual atmosphere, filled with good company and belly laughs… simply put it was everything we love.

They chose to meet at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate because of how beautiful of a backdrop the church is itself, but also the view you get overlooking downtown Guelph. And while we tentatively had planned to shoot a little here and then head to a secondary location, everything around the church— the little field, the parking lots, the overlook, the church itself— was so beautiful we ended up spending our entire evening here! I had spotted some fellow photographers recently shooting on rooftop parking lots and have been so enamoured by their photos and have been wanting to try something similar of a while, so when the opportunity of hanging out in these church parking lots popped up we definitely had to take advantage! The soft, glowing, sunset was so beautiful being a little higher up and hanging out, pressed into the corner of the parkade for a little steamy romance, made it all the more fun. Can’t wait to celebrate with these two again this fall!
