A Summer Engagement at The Distillery with Steph & Alex

what a classic location the distillery district is…

From all of the red brick buildings, the variety of incredible small businesses, and fun seasonal decor (string lights and outdoor movie theatre in the summer, an entire Christmas market in the winter) it’s such a beautiful and local location for an engagement session! The first, and most important, thing to be said about shooting here is that you need a photo permit. They are one of the locations in Toronto that are pretty strict about it, and last thing we want is for you to get all dressed up and looking fabulous, and then for us to be kicked out. So if you’re interested in shooting your engagement photos, even a family session, at The Distillery District, make sure you book your permit.

When our couples are stuck on what location to choose for their sessions the first thing we always suggest is going somewhere sentimental; it adds a personal touch to your photos by giving them some extra meaning. When Steph & Alex suggested The Distillery we knew it would be a great location but when they also mentioned that it was the backdrop of their first date all of those years ago, we knew it was a perfect fit for them!

On a Sunday evening we all met up there and we were shocked at 1. how fabulous Steph looked and 2. that they brought their dog, Abel! (And yes, there were lots of photos taken of him solo hehe). It was a busy day at The Distillery so we did a lap, stopping at the most iconic spots— the heart, at the main laneway, the Love sign— and after making our way out back (right by Cluny) and taking some steamy editorial style portraits, we decided to take a short walk over to the Corktown Common. We love being able to provide a variety of photos in your galleries, and with the Distillery being so busy on our shoot day (there are only so many slow shutter speed / blurry person walking by photos you can take you know haha), going to a secondary location gave us that variety we were looking for!
